World Muhammadiyah experts will meet in Indonesia


  Muhammadiyah University of Malang, East Java, Indonesia(UMM) confirmed to host the Conference of ExpertsMuhammadiyah's World. UMM has established a team of'steering committee' to finalize the event.

Muhammadiyah expert from the University of Chiba Japan,Mitsuo Nakamura, visited UMM on Friday. During his visit, theMitsuo said it was preparing a proposal to finalize the conferencewhich is planned to be held on November 29 to December 2 this year.

"This conference later titled 'International Seminar ofMuhammadiyah (ISM) in 2012'. This seminar aims to raise its own experts from outside Indonesia who have high commitmentto the study of Muhammadiyah," he said.

Nakamura came to UMM chancellor Dr Muhajjir Effendi met with several leaders of Muhammadiyah, namely Prof. Azyumardi Azra,Professor Amin Abdullah, Prof. Chamama Suratno, and Prof.Jaenuri. Through a seminar and workshops, exchange ofresearch findings and discussions on various topics ofMuhammadiyah hoped to produce a comprehensive depiction of the Muhammadiyah and development suggestions.

''When the conference was chosen ahead of the late 2012's as it is associated with the commemoration of a century ofMuhammadiyah corresponding count of the Gregorian calendar.Muhammadiyah was born on November 18, 1912,''he said.

Muhammadiyah is the second largest organization in Indonesia(about 50 million members), after Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), which has about 80 million members, while Hidayatullah in third placewith about 30 million members.
